Layout Tips: making the proof look the way you want
What if I get a "LOW RESOLUTION" message?
If you received the "low resolution" message this means that some photo stretching will occur. Some stretching is not
noticeable
but too much will produce a grainy or fuzzy image.
To check that your photo is big enough, follow these instructions:
- Open the folder on your computer that contains your photo and right-click on its icon.
- Then click properties.
- Here you can view the size of your photo.
If the size is followed by "MB" it is always fine.
If the size is followed by "KB" you should check that it is over 150 KB. If it is smaller than 150 KB you should choose another photo.
If it is larger than 150 KB the photo can be used.
Additionally, if you would like, you may email your photo(s) to contact@photocardcafe.com and we will let you know if it will produce an acceptable printed image.
What if the text does not look right or does not fit?
You can always click the "go back and change" button at the bottom of the page and adjust text as needed.
You can create your own line breaks by pressing "Enter" on your keyboard as you modify your text.
Here are a few suggestions if your text still does not fit:
- Consider using "&" instead of "and"
- For time use "10pm" instead of "10:00 p.m."
- For days and months use "Sept." instead of "September"
- For names that appear too small on invitations or announcements consider using only the first and middle name rather than first, middle, and last.
What if my photo cropping does not look good on the design I chose?
Select photos in which the subject is centered on the photograph as the instant preview tool crops directly to the middle.
If you do not like the way your photo looks you can either choose another photo to use or crop the photo yourself. If you have editing software on your computer you should be able to crop your photo using that. If you do not have editing software there are many options available. Just make sure they do not deminish your file size!
